Obviously the 320i’s a bit quicker, but not by all that much, and the 318i is economical if you drive it gently. The 318i is pretty underpowered I feel. Might as well put in extra and get a 320i. It’s very light,yet not a high performance car.If you want to go fast, buy a 335i. If you want to go far – long term simplicity and reliability – buy a 328i. There are outliers in either direction but the N52 is a lot more reliable than the N54/55 . I’ve owned my ’11 328i for about 8 years and it’s been generally very reliable.
