Motor Sport just took the M850i to Magny-Cours and put it through its paces and its fastest lap time is impressive. Around the French circuit, at the hands of a non-professional racer, the BMW M850i put in a lap time of 1:23. That makes it faster than both the BMW M2 Competition and M3 Competition Package. AMG gt63s is faster than the BMW M8 Competition… and it’s not even close.

A shame to see it all end, to be honest. Available only as a Gran Coupe, the M850i Edition M Heritage likely contributed to the sales spike. BMW began deliveries of the 8 Series’ swan song in Q1 for customers who paid $131,575 for the retro-flavored special edition. Production is capped at 500 units, though not all are destined for the U.
