An M Peformance car has aspects of an M car, like a high performance engine & some other M bits without giving you the full M car expierence. So no, the BMW M340i is NOT an M car, but it isn’t just a standard 3 series. Looking at the 0-100 and the 1/4 mile times you’d think the M340i is quicker, right? Off the line upto 100, yes it is. Thanks to XDrive, it launches much harder due to better traction. The M2C is RWD only and traction is an issue off the line.The M340d produces 340 hp @ 4400 RPM and 700Nm(~516 lbs/ft) @ 1750RPM, weighing in around 1950 kgs. In real acceleration times, a M340i does a 100-200 kph(60-120 mph) in around 10. The M340d does it in around 13. In the quarter mile it does pretty much match the petrol version.
