Is the BMW R1200RS reliable?
In its four-year life it’s proven to be well built, reliable and although servicing isn’t the cheapest, BMW main dealers are a friendly and helpful bunch. Better still you can find early examples for not a lot of cash, which truly makes the BMW R1200RS an unsung sports touring hero. There’s the odd report of corrosion, a few centre stands that need repainting and minor electrical glitches, but in general the BMW R1200RS’s problems are minimal, and it is standing the test of time well. It uses little oil and there are no reports of major mechanical issues.
