Is the BMW M1000RR faster than the S1000RR?
Even so, there’s relatively little performance difference between the two bikes in street form. The M1000RR might make 8hp more than the S1000RR, but it needs to be taken to 14,500rpm to reach its 214. S1000RR’s 206. Not sure how reliable these graphs are, but it looks like the M1000R has a bit less top torque, but it starts a bit earlier, compared to the S1000R. And yeah, the M1000R has the shift cam from the S1000RR. This one makes it even more obvious that there’s the shift cam torque gap between 7k-8k RPM (see upper curve).

What makes the BMW M-1000 R special?
Superbike engine perfected for a hyper roadster: the four-cylinder engine from the RR with BMW ShiftCam technology catapults you from 0 to 60 mph in 3. With a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm, the M R is clearly our most powerful roadster. A quick glance at each bikes’ spec sheet will confirm the Kawi’s more sporting rake/trail and wheelbase. Riding up to my personal limit of street speed probably means both bikes are equally fast, but if pushed past that self-imposed limit, the BMW will struggle to keep up with the Kawasaki. The fastest BMW motorcycle you can buy right now is the M 1000 RR at 189 mph, but the fastest one and the right one for how you actually ride could easily be two different bikes.
