Is the N54 engine good or bad?

The B58 (3. L Turbocharged Inline-6) Introduced in 2015, the B58 is widely considered BMW’s modern masterpiece. It has gained such a reputation for reliability and performance that Toyota chose it for the modern Supra.In reality it is about the same performance if anything a little better. BMW did not make the N55 motor to out perform the N54. They made it so it lower CO and helps the environment and with their advance technology they were able to do that and keep 300Hp mark on this N55 engine platform.The B58 proved that BMW had learned from the N54/N55 era. It’s smoother, stronger, and more dependable while still capable of delivering 600–700+ wheel horsepower with the right upgrades.Despite having long since been superseded by newer, more powerful turbocharged inline-six engines like the B58, the N54 holds a special place in enthusiasts’ hearts.

What engine is better than the N54?
I have both I’d definitely trust the b58 over the n54 on trips or for a daily. B58 improved on a bunch of issues the n54 had not to say that it’s not without problems but at least they gave you more room to do things like the turbo, or downpipe. Both the N54 and N55 engines offer impressive performance, with similar acceleration and top speed figures. However, enthusiasts often note that the N54 feels slightly more responsive and engaging, owing to its twin-turbo setup.The N54 provides better performance potential and stronger internals but at the cost of increased complexity and reliability issues. The N55, while more reliable and simpler in design, offers nearly comparable performance to the N54, while remaining easier to maintain.The M47 is an older-generation engine, simpler and more reliable, with a front-mounted timing chain. It is a great choice for those who value reliability and want to avoid costly repairs. The N47 is more dynamic, more fuel-efficient, and more modern, but unfortunately less reliable due to its rear-mounted timing chain.
