The E92 M3’s biggest flaw was in its engine. The rod bearings on the S65 V-8 are known to fail, so it’s important to ensure that they’ve been replaced when looking into a used example. Throttle actuators are another common failure component. The reasons why you don’t see the E90 M3 much are: Massive recession that caused BMW to basically idle production for half the time it was on the market. If you look at the production numbers, BMW basically built E90s for MY2008 and MY2011.These cars are actually pretty reliable. Where the E46 M3s all had a cooling fault and some rear subframe-to-chassis issues, there’s no single thing that plagues the E92. We’ve seen ones with high mileage, but they don’t seem old. The mileage isn’t affecting them.
