Is the 118d reliable?
Reliable and solid. I have had my 118d for about 6months now having bought it second hand. It’s got great spec with the M-Sport kit, updated alloys and more internal extras than I have time to list. It drives brilliantly, if a little bumpy at times but that’s what you get for buying a car with sports suspension. Are BMW 1 Series reliable cars? Both use the same 2. PS, 27PS below the 118d. The 116D model might be the best choice if you plan on making lots of long trips, as you can get up to 61mpg. The automatic 1.Both were manual and the 120D did have a bit more performance but in the real world the 118D is well quick enough. Ours is the 143bhp model with stop/start. Road tax on 118d manual is £30 PA, on 120d auto its £130. Official combined on 118d is 62.
