What are the new Motability rules for 2026 cars?
From July 2026, new leases will include a 10,000-mile annual limit, with excess mileage charged at 25p per mile. These changes are outlined in Motability’s official Scheme updates. From 1 July 2026, VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) will apply to leases on the Motability Scheme. As a result, leasing a vehicle will become more expensive and it will cost significantly more to deliver the Scheme.
